Expert Answers about Chevrolet Trailer Fenders

  • How to Mount the Fulton Plastic Trailer Fenders
  • You can mount the fenders directly to the trailer frame through the fender skirt on the back of the fender. I would recommend using large washers if you drill through the fender skirt and attach the fender directly to the trailer frame. If mounting directly to the trailer frame is not possible on your trailer, you will need to use brackets to attach the fenders. We have the Galvanized Steel, L-Shaped, Bolt-On Brackets, item # PF775-BKT-2, that could be used to mount these fenders, # F008543,...

  • Mounting the Aluminum Tread Plate, Jeep-Style, Single-Axle Trailer Fender
  • The Aluminum Tread Plate, Jeep-Style, Single-Axle Trailer Fender, item # HP96VR is designed for a weld on application and putting screws and washers through the lip on the inside of the fender would most likely not last. If these fenders were to be installed on a steel trailer you would need to have an aluminum mounting bracket welded to the inside edge of the fenders that could be used to stiffen the fender and give additional mounting points. We do have steel fenders available that should...

  • Can the Fulton Trailer Fender # F008550 be mounted to the Sidewall of a Tear Camper Trailer
  • You should be able to mount the Fulton Trailer Fender, # F008550, to the side of your camper trailer. Depending on the trailers construction you may need to use a mounting bracket and some carriage bolts to utilize the square attachment holes in the front and rear of the fender, or you may be able to bolt the fender directly to the side of the trailer through the fender skirt on the back side of the fender.

  • Can the CE Smith Single Axle Trailer Fender part # CE17100ATB Mount Directly to a Trailer
  • The CE Smith Single Axle Trailer Fender part # CE17100ATB that you referenced has a radiused lip on both sides of the fender. It can still be bolted on though as the fender lip does go flat. It will set flush to the side of your trailer, but the round radius lip of the trailer will make the shoulder of the fender sit away from the surface of the trailer.

  • How To Bolt-On, Weld On Trailer Fenders
  • Yes you certainly can. In order to bolt-on a set of metal weld-on fenders such as the Single Axle Trailer Fender part # HP29VR you will need a set of mounting brackets such as the Mounting Brackets for Trailer Fender part # CE26098G-2. If you do not have a 14" or 15" wheel, you will need to match the correct the trailer fenders to your wheel size in addition to matching the mounting bracket to your trailer fenders. Unfortunately, the only trailer fenders we sell that have a step feature...

  • Customized Mounting for Trailer Fender
  • The Single Axle Trailer Fenders w Mounting Brackets - White Plastic - 13" to 15" Wheels # PF11X35W-2 comes with the mounting brackets to stabilize the fender. You do not need to drill into the backing for that installation. If you choose to install by drilling in the backing and mounting to the trailer frame in that location the fenders will work well but you will not be able to utilize the steps on the ends or top of the fender as the intended mounting brackets are what help support...

  • Can the Jeep Style Single Axle Trailer Fender be Screwed Onto an Enclosed Trailer
  • The Jeep style Single Axle Trailer Fender, # HP76VR, is designed to be welded on. You might be able to use screws but you would have to use a lot of them all around the back lip of the fender. Since it is designed as a weld-on application I do not recommend using hardware to mount the fender. Welding should be performed by a qualified professional.

  • Tire to Fender Clearance Recommendation for etrailer Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders
  • We recommend having 4" of clearance from tire treads to any fenders, including the Tandem Axle Trailer Fenders # HP22FR. This gives you enough leeway for the trailer suspension to flex up and down during travel without your tires rubbing against the fenders. You can install this fender using mounting brackets like part # CE26098G-2. Attached are some videos for you to check out.

  • The etrailer Single Axle Trailer Fender - 16 Gauge Steel - 13" to 14" Wheels, # HP69VR, can be either welded on or bolted on to a trailer. For mounting brackets to mount to your trailer, I recommend the Mounting Brackets for Trailer Fender - 13"/14"/15" Wheels - Galvanized Steel - Qty 2, # CE26098G-2. These brackets will allow you to mount one fender to your trailer. Both brackets will be needed to mount one fender. The brackets, like the fender, are made of galvanized steel for superior...

  • Do the Fulton Plastic Trailer Fenders Come with Mounting Brackets
  • For the Fulton trailer fenders like # F008574 you would need to use your own mounting brackets/hardware because there is no one set way to mount the fenders. You may be able to just modify your existing brackets. These fenders have a cutout in the back, see picture, on each side to allow for brackets. Or you may be able to use mounting brackets # PF1135-BKT-2.

  • Can the etrailer Single Axle Fender and the CE Smith Fender be Welded or Bolted
  • The etrailer brand Single Axle Fender, # HP69VR, and the CE Smith Single Axle Fender, # CE17800G, are both slightly smaller than your current fenders. The etrailer brand fender is 28 inches long x 7-3/4 inches wide x 10 inches tall and is compatible with 13 inch and 14 inch wheel configurations. The CE Smith fender is 27-3/8 inches long x 8 inches wide x 11 inches tall and is compatible with 13 inch wheel applications. These are the closest fenders that we carry to your current fenders....

  • Adding Lights to CE Smith Fenders
  • There aren't fenders available that have cutouts for side marker lights, but there is a way to add lights to the CE Smith Single Axle Trailer Fenders with Top and Side Steps # CE19502-2. You could very carefully cut the fenders because they are plastic, or you can mount lights on top with the Trailer Fender Light with Reflector - Driver Side # BA44FNL and Passenger Side # BA44FNR. I have added links to video reviews for you to check out as well.

  • How to Install Plastic Fulton Fender on Trailer
  • Yes you need to use brackets like part # CE26065PGA or # CE26061G to install the Fulton Single Axle Trailer Fender with Top Step # F008542. Basically you just secure one side of the bracket to your trailer and then the other side of the bracket to the fender. Since there are a wide variety of ways that this can be done there isn't really a specific way to do this or specific hardware that "has" to be used aside from the diameter being 3/8" to fit the brackets.

  • Mounting Brackets for CE Smith Single Axle Trailer Fenders
  • It looks like you got the CE Smith Single Axle Trailer Fenders w/ Top and Side Steps - Black Plastic - 13" Wheels - Qty 2 # CE19503-2. Assuming you have 13" wheels you did not order the wrong fenders. However, these do not come with mounting brackets since some trailers will already have them when replacing fenders. For mounting brackets, I recommend the Mounting Brackets for Trailer Fender - 13" to 15" Wheels - Galvanized Steel - Qty 2 # CE26099GA. These are designed for 8" to 9" wide...

  • Availability of Backing Plates for Mounting etrailer Trailer Fender # HP66VR
  • The USA-made etrailer brand Trailer Fender # HP66VR is intended for direct weld-on installation without use of any other components. The outside edge of the 16-gauge steel fender has a 1-inch-radius lip and the inside edge (that part that welds on to your trailer) has a straight 90-degree angle. Because these fenders are intended for weld-on installation there are no backing plates or any other type of installation hardware. These fenders are suitable for use with 16 - 16.5-inch diameter...

  • Mounting Option for the CE Smith Single Axle Trailer Fender # CE17960ATB
  • I would not recommend mounting the CE Smith Single Axle Fender, # CE17960ATB, by screwing through the lip. You will have less than 1/2 of an inch from the bottom edge of the lip to the curve. This would not leave enough room for a washer to spread out the force of the bolt on the fender. Instead, I recommend using trailer fender mounting brackets like part # CE26098G-2. These mounting brackets have 3/8 inch diameter mounting holes, so you will want to choose your mounting hardware accordingly.

  • How to Mount a Fulton Plastic Trailer Fender to a Trailer
  • You can use the hardware and mounting brackets from your original fenders, or I recommend L-shaped brackets, like part # PF775-BKT-2, to mount the fender to your trailers frame. I have attached a link to our product page of mounting brackets we have for trailer fenders. I recommend the L brackets. The one end would be up underneath and the other end would attach to the trailer frame through that skirt. I will include a picture that should better illustrate this.
